This is a permanent part-time (0.76FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2021.

Boyare Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cleaner in Charge to join their school.

The successful applicant should be a highly motivated and proactive person who takes pride in being responsible for providing a high standard of cleanliness within the workplace in order to provide a visually pleasing and safe learning environment for our students, staff and visitors to the school.

The successful applicant will be one who can organise and supervise staff, and who has sound knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods and practices. Have strong interpersonal and team motivational skills and be well organised and with have good record keeping skills.

The Cleaner in Charge should have great communication skills and experience in supervising staff, as the successful applicant will be responsible for the organising and supervising of school cleaning staff, including arranging relief staff. They will be responsible for highlighting issues and concerns on behalf of cleaners and respond to issues raised by other school staff.

In addition to the above, the Cleaner in Charge will liaise with the Manager Corporate Services on all cleaning matters, and record and respond to issues and concerns detailed in the communication book. They will maintain the cleaner’s time book along with organise and supervise the cleaning of the school. Some computer literacy will be necessary as they will be responsible for monitoring stock and ordering supplies online. Other responsibilities include opening and locking the school, including setting the security alarm system.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
  • Complete the Department’s online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within three months of commencement.
  • Complete Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable.
  • Complete any other training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
