Appointment Pool

East Kimberley College is seeking to establish a pool of Kindergarten to Year 6 Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2021. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2021.

To be suitable for this position, you should possess a passion for teaching, exhibit exemplary professional skills and high expectations.

East Kimberley College has an explicit instruction approach, by using a school wide pedagogy with the focus of moving children’s knowledge from short term to long term memory. Every learning environment is designed for student engagement to drive high levels of academic improvement and performance for each student.

Suitable applicants will desirably have the aptitude for an explicit instruction philosophy and embrace the highly developed pedagogical practise of the school. Applicants should be well versed in the Primary West Australian Curriculum and be able to deliver and collaborate within a team, for teaching and learning. Having knowledge of Daily Reviews is desirable but not essential. East Kimberley College is supported by the Kimberley Schools Project (KSP) to support teachers through coaching and Professional Learning throughout the Kimberley region.

Knowledge of Positive Behaviour in Schools and/or an ability to demonstrate this approach in a classroom environment would be an asset. Applicants should be willing to engage in whole school development and collegiate practises. Having an understanding of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework will be advantageous.

East Kimberley College has approximately 1000 students enrolled (Approximately 600 in the Primary School). The College offers all that one would expect in a larger metropolitan school, yet has the unique friendly atmosphere typical of a rural community. ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; 
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check and
  • Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
