About Gwydir Day Care & Preschool

Gwydir Day Care and Preschool has been operating for over 30 years, supporting the children of working parents, as well as some from non-working families subject to vacancies. With great resources and spacious outdoor areas, the centre has fantastic facilities to support a wide range of interests, offering play-based learning and engaging educational activities for children from 8 weeks to 5 years.

Owned and managed by Moree Plains Shire Council,the daycare has four rooms, with children divided into groups based on their age/stage/development. With a friendly and welcoming team of longterm staff, they provide a high level of care and education to all children, including those who require additional assistance.

About the Opportunities

Gwydir Day Care and Preschool is currently looking for a Directorto join their well-resourced team in Moree, NSW on a flexible full-time basis, with hours negotiable based on your needs and availability.

Reporting to Council, you will be leading the day-to-day activities of the Centre, ensuring strict compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and funding requirements.

Some of your key management areas will include:

  • Financial management;
  • Human Resource Management;
  • Business administration (predominantly billing parents and handling rosters);
  • Working with funding bodies to maintain compliance standards;
  • Overseeing policies, processes and reporting;
  • Formal communication to parents; and
  • Formal reporting to Council.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need a strong background in early childhood education, or demonstrated leadership experience in human services, community services or a similar, compliance-heavy industry. Any qualifications in Early Childhood would be an advantage, though not essential provided you are able and willing to learn about the sector.

Confident mentoring and developing the Gwydir team, you'll be committed to innovation, able to identify areas for improvement or opportunities for growth. 

A fast learner with a strong eye for detail, you'll be able to ensure compliance with a wide range of requirements, ensuring the centre is operating according to legal standards/requirements at all times.

Friendly, open and inclusive, it's crucial that you're able to communicate positively and effectively with a diverse range of children, families, staff and other stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. Most importantly, you will be a caring, positive, and nurturing individual who is passionate about the growth and development of young children.

Please note: It is essential that you hold, or are willing to obtain, a First Aid Certificate and current Working with Children Check.
