Job Title: Instructional Designer x6
Location: Petersham
Start Date: Feb 2021
End Date: 12 months
Classification/Grade/Band: Grade 8
Pay Rate to candidate: $650-$700 per day excluding Super (Req #2277)
Hours of work: 8 hrs a day, 40 hrs per week (no overtime will be paid)

  • Must have experience working the VET sector in an RTO conducting learning design work i.e developing learning and assessment for units of competency with qualifications – the project you would be working on requires to develop learning and assessment for AQF qualifications so must have done this type of work before
  • Must have experience using eLearning authoring tools and proficient at these tools – we had some candidates that don’t have any experience developing eLearning and the online components of the project are quite significant so we need designers who are strong in the development of online learning and assessment
  • Experience must primarily by as a learning/instructional designer at least the last 5 years in a learning/instructional design position – we had quite a few applicants who are technical writers not learning/instructional designers

Primary purpose of the role
The Instructional Designer provides professional and consultative services in the continuous educational improvement of the Transport Cluster’s training and development resources by researching, designing,
developing and monitoring curricula and programs within a quality assured framework, to ensure that transport staff have the competencies necessary to undertake their work in a skilled, safe and effective manner.

Essential requirements
  • Certificate IV in TAE and a minimum of 2 years instructional design experience.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Adult Education, Instructional Design or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
  • Adept experience in using Instructional Design authoring tools and Microsoft Office software.

Key challenges
  • Working closely with Organisational Development BP’s, Centres of Excellence and training committees to facilitate the production of high quality training materials.
  • Striking an effective and sustainable balance between a consistent Cluster wide approach to learning programs to support integration, collaboration and efficiency with requests for program tailoring to meet
    specific needs and secure business commitment.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and industry requirements and reforms and their implications for training and development products and their delivery, to ensure
    that learning; meets business needs, is aligned with best practice adult learning principles, complies with relevant legislation and regulations, and is consistently applied across the organisation.
