Position Information

Balgowlah North Public School is located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney with an enrolment of 490 students. The area is bound by bush on one side leading to Manly Dam. Selection Criteria

1.In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach Infants and/or Primary and a proven ability to lead the implementation of high quality programs that build student engagement through curiosity and creativity.
2. Demonstrated capacity and or willingness to both model and improve literacy and numeracy teaching and learning cycles.With an ability to lead the analysis and use of data to inform effective, evidence - based, differentiated teaching practice.
3. Highly developed communication, organisation and interpersonal skills with capacity to lead, mentor and inspire innovation and change while maintaining positive relationships with students, families and community members.
4. Ability to work cohesively as part of an engaged and proactive leadership team, with the capacity to analyse and evaluate the school's progress towards excellence as part of the school improvement plan.
5. Ability to lead whole school innovative programs incorporating creative use of technology to extend and enrich learning for students. 

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies


An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
