JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Information

Porters Creek Public School is a newly-established school that is currently under construction. It is due to open in Term One, 2022. The school will be a contemporary, state of the art facility that harnesses strong inspiration from the environment and cultural connection to provide an innovative educational experience for all students.

Cutting edge educational programs that inform both the planning and design of the school, are currently being researched with the support of the Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation and the University of Newcastle.

Porters Creek Public School will be a school of academic excellence, initially accommodating up to 460 students as part of the Phase One construction. Provision for a Phase Two construction will provide capacity for the school in the long term to cater for up to 1 000 students in permanent accommodation.

Porters Creek Public school will be a proud partner and active member of the Muru Bulbi Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group and Tuggerah Lakes Learning Community and will enjoy positive partnerships with the Parents and Citizens and local community.

Selection Criteria

Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Demonstrated ability to develop, inspire and lead a school culture of academic excellence, through the embedding of evidence-based and data-informed practices, including a strong focus on innovation and creativity.
2. A futures-focused and visible leader, with an authentic ability to build and embrace a culture of wellbeing, inclusion, differentiation and high expectations for all students and staff.
3. Demonstrated capacity to strategically develop and lead an inspired vision and collaborative culture within the whole school, across and in partnership with its broader educational community.
4. Demonstrated expertise, which values and enhances positive relationships, to collaboratively lead innovative approaches that enhances the wellbeing and educational potential for all Aboriginal students.

General Selection Criteria

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to leadand manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high qualityeducation

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive wholeschool teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with thecapacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the schooland educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performanceof staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectivelyand equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff inimplementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensurequality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Conditions

If you have not held a substantive principal position in a NSW PublicSchool at any time in the past five (5) years, you need to have completed theNSW Public School Leadership and Management Credential to be eligible to apply,and you will need to attach a copy of your provisional credential certificateor final credential certificate as part of your application.
An unconditional full approval to teach is arequirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSWDepartment of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as youapply for this teaching opportunity.

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure, a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P3 for 2022.

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
