JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Information

Schofields Public School currently has an enrolment of 859 students with 65% from a non-English speaking background. The school enrolment is increasing rapidly. The school operates as a mixed site that combines demountable classrooms as well as newly built flexible, co-teaching learning spaces. Our support unit has a combination of multi-categorical and autism enrolments which are based in three purpose-built spaces which were part of the school upgrade. There is strong community support for the school with parents and teachers working together for the benefit of each student's learning. Selection Criteria

Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism, intellectual disability and complex challenging behaviours including sensory needs K-6. 

Demonstrated quality classroom practice and highly developed behaviour management skills which enhance student engagement and the development of social skills through enriched, differentiated and individualised learning programs. 

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work collaboratively, proactively and professionally with colleagues, parents, carers, school learning support officers, support agencies and the wider community. 

Demonstrated ability to build and contribute to a positive school culture and school-wide wellbeing practices with a capacity to make a broader contribution to whole school extra-curricular activities. 

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
