Making Waves EEC is now recruiting for an experienced, highly motivated and passionate Child & Family Practitioner. This unique role offers a blend of implementing integrative approaches for behaviour change with children, parents and coaching educators to create positive interactions.
You will be tasked with:
- Conducting counselling meetings with vulnerable individuals and family groups.
- Advising on strengths based family centred approaches
- Child assessment for developing individualised learning plans to meet social, communication and educational needs
- Practical mentoring of educators to adjust interpersonal interactions with children and their families.
- Conducting functional behaviour assessments as needed and provide parent education as well as create, monitor and report on functional programming
- Working closely with the leadership team to develop an integrative workplace culture catering to the needs of ALL families and children in a new inclusive service.
Making Waves EEC is working in community partnership with Sarah Kelly & Frances Dolan, both Occupational and Early Start Denver Model certified therapists. Making Waves is committed to developing a socially inclusive service that provides high quality care and education for ALL children and builds the capacity of early childhood educators. Our programs foster the development of children’s learning though teaching skills in an accepting, sensitive and responsive environment. Social, emotional development and a positive attitude to learning is nurtured through play-based, child-led teaching opportunities throughout routines in the day. We have been rated ‘exceeding’ and place a high value on offering an exceptional service.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant bachelor’s degree qualifications to provide Intervention under the NDIS. Relevant qualifications include: Psychology or Social Work.
- A current working with children check and National Police check.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide a bridge between families and educators.
- Minimum two years leadership & supervision experience.
- Demonstrated experience in managing an environment with diverse learning needs.
- Demonstrated knowledge, experience & skills in working with children from diverse backgrounds (CALD, ASD, GDD) and their families.
- Computer literacy skills including use of Microsoft Office and Social Media
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of Early Start Denver Model (Completed training, certification or willingness to complete)
- Experience leading and presenting at team meetings
- Sharing information and disseminating knowledge amongst a diverse team
