Your new role

The role of a Developmental Educator in the Foundation Skills Group involves working as part of a vibrant and energetic team in the delivery of group based early intervention therapy. The role is dynamic and fast paced and requires an enthusiastic and passionate team of therapists who wish to work collaboratively to make a difference to lives of our children and their families. The Developmental Educator role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Working within a small trans-disciplinary team to deliver holistic early intervention therapy in a group model
  • Assessing the needs of children utilising appropriate assessments, intervention strategies and processes
  • Conducting functional behaviour assessments and developing positive behaviour support strategies
  • Providing coaching for other members of the trans-disciplinary team to implement positive behaviour support strategies
  • Collaboratively developing therapeutic goals and routinely utilising data collection methodologies
  • Under guidance from other members of the transdisciplinary team, delivering therapeutic interventions for children across all areas of child development
  • Providing coaching for key staff, families and other service providers
  • Utilising knowledge and skills of Autism and child development to provide direct services and consultative support to relevant stakeholders
  • Facilitating successful inclusion of families and individual
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the transdisciplinary team, families and staff from other organisations

The role will be based at one of the following Foundation Skills Group location:

  • Redwood Park

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor degree qualification in disability, Developmental Education, Education or other relevant qualification and experience
  • A passion for working in early intervention and collaborative team work
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principals of Applied Behaviour Analysis and Positive Behaviour Support
  • Experience conducting functional behaviour assessments and developing positive behaviour support plans and strategies
  • Demonstrated experience working within or understanding of a trans-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a paediatric setting
  • Familiarity with goal setting and experience in developing specific goals to meet the child’s developmental needs
  • Understanding of a holistic approach to child development
