This unique role will be servicing a Cluster of small schools (12) across the Gympie area focusing on educational leadership and building individual capacity within these locations to promote inclusive practices where students with a disability under the Disability Discrimination Act are able to access, participate and achieve success. You will also be required to facilitate some cluster professional development opportunities as they arise as a response to local data/local needs or system imperatives. You will be working with school teams, families and children to maximise the outcomes for students with a disability to lift outcomes both academically and socially.

Your Opportunity

As the Head of Special Education Services for the Tin Can Bay Cluster you will need to be aware of:

policy and tools available that support the inclusive process of learning where students with a disability receive the adjustments they need to access the curriculum, to participate in classroom with their peers and to receive success
the resources and support materials available to assist the schools in their inclusive education journey in 2021
how to locate, access and work with a range of regional support services and resources to assist the school teams make reasonable adjustments for students with disability

Travel Requirements:

The Head of Special Education Services role base school is Tin Can Bay however will work from an office located at Gympie West State School for reason of access to fleet vehicles
This role will require traveling to the schools within the cluster to provide one on one support to Principals and designated SEP teachers

Technology Requirements:

Use of technology such as TEAMS, ZOOM and Skype to provide contact and support to individual and cluster training sessions will be a requirement for the role

Relocation and travel expenses are not provided for acting positions however may be negotiated in circumstances requiring significant travel and relocation of residence.

About You

A knowledge of data and reflection tools will be required to support the improvement of outcomes for students with a disability e.g. a strong working knowledge of AIMS and annual processes to support small school Principals with the accurate capturing and recording of student data is an essential element of this role.

A mandatory requirement of this role is:

Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. For more information please CLICK HERE.
