The Role

This is a trainer and assessor position responsible for delivery, training and assessment within the Sheldon school of Hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:

Overall, you are responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of nationally endorsed Training Packages/accredited courses and/or customised industry courses. This includes training in the classroom and/or assessing trainees in their workplace, and preparing appropriate resources and classes based on Training Packages. Further, in collaboration with the Compliance manager, meet all auditing and compliance requirements.

Qualification required:

  • Advance Diploma of Hospitality.
  • Certificate-IV in Commercial Cookery.

Specifically, key responsibilities are:

  • Delivery and/or assessment of nationally endorsed Training Packages/Accredited Courses and/or Customised Industry Courses
  • Assess students enrolled in the qualification as per the relevant Learning and Assessment Strategy
  • Assess and address the varied needs of each student/trainee, including the provision of training which caters for individual differences in prior learning, academic abilities and learning styles and provide additional assistance to students with low levels of literacy and numeracy
  • Ensure compliance with AQF (Australian Qualification Framework) requirements.
  • Comply with all relevant legislation and company policies
  • Personal qualities which foster a high level of achievement in students
  • Develop best practice models of vocational education and training delivery
  • Develop and provide detailed unit/module outlines, assessment guidelines and tools, for students and trainees
  • Development and administration of suitable assessment tasks appropriate to qualifications/course requirements
  • Ensure content and delivery of Training Packages and accredited courses meet the standards of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Quality Framework
  • Comply with organisational requirements for the completion of records, including attendance and results records, within specified timelines
  • Monitor and review program activity and standards to ensure funding guidelines are met and comprehensive records of participation and outcomes are kept
  • Maintain strong links with other staff, ensuring all activity is complementary and utilises the existing knowledge, expertise, resources and industry/business links within our organisation
  • In conjunction with faculty/campus manager and facilitator/coordinators foster a team approach to the delivery of courses by attending regular staff meetings, moderation/validation workshops, participating in collaborative problem solving and undertaking relevant professional development
  • Participate in moderation/validation sessions as required and undertaking relevant professional development sessions as per Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) standards
  • Report to and inform the appropriate manager regarding student welfare, student attendance and course progress
  • Facilitate work placements as per required/relevant training course for practical consideration
  • Ensuring Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements are met in the preparation, delivery and execution of relevant courses (e.g. within workshops, restaurants, classrooms, field trips and so forth)

Required Experience/Academic Background:

  • Ability to resolve and manage student complaints and students matters
  • Competent knowledge of ASQA compliance and other applicable standards and legislation
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent (required prior to commencement);
  • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and one of the following units of competency;
  • TAELLN411 or TAELLN401A (or their successor), and one of the following units of competency, TAEASS502 or TAEASS502A orTAEASS502B (or their successor); or
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor, or Higher qualification in Adult & Vocational education.
  • Relevant certificate, diploma/degree level qualification and/or equivalent practical experience is required
  • Ability to work at a wide range of stakeholders, particularly with those from various and diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated skills in the delivery and assessment of regulatory and competency-based training
  • Very strong communicator who effectively inspires participation and conveys information effectively to gain commitment from others
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders and communicates, influences and negotiates outcomes
  • Strong written communication skills to a high standard in order to prepare documentation and work with areas of the business responsible for implementation
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and tasks, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments.
  • Resourceful team player with the ability to establish and maintain trusting, cooperative and productive working relationships with team members and customers
  • Sound skills in computer operations and business systems relevant to the role and comply e-learning methodologies.
  • Registration/Membership/licensing with regulatory facilities based on the qualification delivered.

Salary: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
