This is a Seven (7) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2021 with possible extension and or permanency

Roebuck Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Deputy Principal to continue the momentum in leading Student Services and school priorities including, Curriculum embedding SEN Planning and Reporting, Aboriginal Education, Behaviour Management, Values, Attendance and Health and wellbeing. 

The successful applicant will ensure these whole school priorities are implemented within and across the school through the effective and ethical allocation of resources. You will model inclusive practices so that students, staff and families are supported to access, engage and participate in all aspects of the school. You will initiate and lead the review of school policies to support the management, engagement and full participation of students with disability, diagnosed or imputed, and ensure compliance with legislative and/or system policies. You will evaluate and revise reporting and accountability mechanisms in the school to meet the needs of students, parents/carers and colleagues. This includes, but is not exclusive to, students with disability, Attendance and Participation, behaviour management, and school values.

The Deputy will, in consultation with the leadership team, be responsive in leading improvement, innovation and change in the Roebuck PS context. The successful candidate will ideally be able to align the Department’s strategic direction to support the educational goals, vision and values of the school.

The successful applicant will continue to build the culture of improvement, empowerment, and responsibility that continues to support the development of professional learning communities. This is conducted through a research and evidenced-based paradigm. They will implement professional dialogue within the school that is informed by feedback, analysis of research, and practice, to improve the educational outcomes of students. The successful candidate will, in consultation with the leadership team, continue to engage in and evaluate professional learning aligned to the priorities of the school.

As one of the leaders in the school, they will contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the school self-assessment framework. Through this framework, they will assess the impact of change on others, providing opportunities for regular feedback, developing opportunities for robust professional conversations that lead to consensus and for development of individual and collective responsibility for implementing changes. The emphasis is on developing self and others.

They will make the most effective use of technology for curriculum, management and operational priorities, including (but not exclusive to): recording, analysing and sharing information to monitor progress against school and identified cohort targets; reporting and through Connect, maximising the facilities to enhance participation and engagement of all audiences.

The successful applicant will ideally build and maintain positive relationships with the community and key stakeholders and support the school governing body.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
