This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP

Student Support services are seeking a motivated Research and Technical Support Officer in the Student Wellbeing Branch.

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical direction, advice and support to Departmental staff in relation to system functionality, processes and protocols, relevant online courses and resources. In particular, you will provide research, technical and operational support required to implement the actions of the Everyday Matters 10‑point plan to improve student attendance. It will be highly desirable for the successful applicant to have excellent technical and communication skills as well as knowledge of the Departmental policies and processes.

The Statewide Services Division is responsible for the central portfolios that deliver support services to students and schools across the State to improve educational outcomes for all students. This includes ensuring there is state-wide integration of support to schools and students, providing policy advice, allocating resources, and monitoring programs and services to ensure high standards.

The Student Support Services Directorate is responsible for the delivery of integrated, state-wide services for networks, schools and teachers that support the engagement and wellbeing of every student.

The services and support delivered through the Student Support Services Directorate are integrated with the Teaching and Learning Services Directorate, and all other functions of Statewide Services, to support the successful outcomes for all students. This is achieved through a focus on better integration of services with schools, students, families and external service providers; supporting schools and networks of schools to provide timely, responsive and effective support for each student; and thereby creating expanded opportunities for students to develop the academic, personal and social competencies they will need to participate in the future workforce and society.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  1. Proficiency in providing administrative services, including experience in technical systems and databases support, executive services and administering and reporting on financial systems and budgets.
  2. Well developed research, conceptual and analytical skills, including experience in managing complex and/or sensitive data to identify trends and issues.
  3. Well developed written communication skills and the ability to prepare correspondence, briefing notes and guidelines.
  4. Well developed verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with people at all levels and to work effectively in a team environment.
  5. Well developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to deliver outcomes on schedule.

Employees will be required to:
