Goodstart has an amazing opportunity for a Category Manager, Early Learning Resources to join our team on a full time, permanent basis.

The supply of quality resources to Goodstart remains integral to the overall provision of early learning and care provided to Children whose families entrust Goodstart every day with the responsibility of providing quality early learning to their Children. Quality is at the forefront of everything that Goodstart implements and undertakes from its practice through to the development of new purpose built facilities and the expansion of its network.

Given the complexity, diversity and scale of Goodstart portfolio, the role will facilitate and lead all negotiations with providers of resources, within Australia and offshore on behalf of Goodstart with a view to developing an alternate, cost effective supply chain for all early learning resource and furniture requirements. You will also ensure that the business requirements are met in terms of quality, budget and timing and will be ultimately responsible for the end to end procurement activities across the category of spend.

The successful applicant will be required to understand and meet the strategic goals of the organisation through the implementation of an innovative strategy to introduce quality resources, cost effective open ended, non-descript furniture items accompanied and supported by best practice sourcing management processes and systems.

We are flexible on location as there is the ability to work from home, however you would need to be able to work occasionally in our Head Office in Murarrie QLD. 

About the Role:

  • Develop, lead and execute onshore and offshore negotiations and sourcing strategies based on market research and intel
  • Analysis to optimise value for money outcomes and meet stakeholder needs and expectations
  • Identify and manage commercial, contractual, operational, ethical and supply chain risks to minimise negative impacts on category objectives while encouraging opportunity and innovation
  • Lead negotiations on high impact, complex supply arrangements and contract issues to deliver better outcomes
  • Manage the existing warehouse relationship and distribution of existing product through the epurchasing platform
  • Develop a local and international sourcing model for early learning resources that identifies savings through a direct supply chain model and that also encompasses continuous improvement and new resources to assist with the development of children’s learnings.
  • Coordinate international shipping and local distribution as required.

About you:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the early years sector negotiating offshore supply arrangements, sourcing and Customer Management.
  • Minimum of 5 years working within the Retail Early Years Resource and furniture space
  • Previous experience in negotiating with suppliers and manufactures globally
  • Previous experience in procurement of efficiencies (cost and end-to-end sourcing)
  • Flexibility to undertake domestic and international travel is essential.
