We are looking for experienced people to be part of our team as a Part Time Teacher in Languages, Literacy and Numeracy

If you do not have a current TAE qualification, but you do have a passion and commitment for your industry, you may be eligible for a Certificate IV Training and Assessment scholarship. Once you have completed the studies, you will hold the qualification needed to become a Trainer and Assessor with TAFE NSW.

The Role

The role of the TAFE Teacher as a professional educator is to help, construct, guide and enhance the educative process. The teacher delivers educational programs and facilitates learning, enabling students to achieve their desired outcomes.

The Teacher of Language Literacy and Numeracy will be delivering pre-vocational training in Language, Literacy and Numeracy to students with various backgrounds and ages who have experienced barriers to engage in learning. This training will prepare such learners for further study or entry into vocational pathways.

To be successful in this role you must have:

1. Bachelor of Adult Education with majors in Language and/or Literacy and/or Numeracy OR a recognised, relevant Degree in Education with a Major focus on Language and/or Literacy and/or Numeracy OR a Bachelor degree and a Post Graduate qualifications in Language and/or Literacy and/or Numeracy e.g. TAE80113 Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice (and its equivalent TAE70111).

2. Evidence of 200 hours (or more) experience relevant teaching experience.

3. Hold the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40110 with the two additional units) or a Diploma in VET or Adult Education.

4. Be prepared to continue to develop their Vocational Education and Training (VET) knowledge and skills as well as their industry currency and trainer/assessor competence.

5. High level written and oral communication skills in English, strengths in problem solving and proven ability to communicate effectively in a wide range of educational, industrial or community environments.

6. Commitment and ability to facilitate learning in an adult environment and demonstrated organisational skills applicable to an educational setting that includes early school leavers, disengaged youth, Indigenous and people with disabilities.

7. Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and demonstrated ability to contribute in a team environment that includes online/digital communications.
