The School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences (SCMB) combines the disciplines of Chemistry, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Parasitology into a single academic unit. The School has modern research laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment and research infrastructure. The School includes over 50 academic staff, who are widely published internationally and have extensive research backgrounds. About This Opportunity
As the Manager, Teaching Laboratory Services, you will be responsible for managing the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate coursework preparation and teaching laboratories and associated support services, including team leadership. You will also participate in management of the School’s casual tutor program and outreach activities program and be part of the School’s professional staff leadership team.
This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre.
The Ideal Candidate
With prior demonstrated experience in leadership and team supervision and demonstrated experience in higher education teaching laboratories, you should possess a postgraduate degree in chemistry or the molecular biosciences and relevant management experience in laboratory facilities or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Detailed knowledge of relevant courses and programs of study and familiarity with general requirements of student administration such as enrolments, timetabling and examinations and an understanding of academic and administrative policies and procedures will see you excel in this role. Essential to the role will be your outstanding communications, interpersonal and organisational skills, in addition to your strong commitment to outstanding service delivery and laboratory safety and a tenacious ability to handle situations that require initiative and judgement.

What We Can Offer
This is a full-time, continuing position at HEW Level 8.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $100,264- $112,583, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $117,309 - $131,723.
