This is an eleven (11) month fixed term, part-time (0.4FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2021 with possible extension

Takari Primary School (PS) is seeking an energetic and proactive Science Primary Teacher to join our friendly and supportive team.

Takari is the Aboriginal meaning for 'Tomorrow'. Established in 1969, Takari Primary School is located in the northern suburbs of Perth in the Balcatta area. We cater for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. With an approximate population of 160 students, we are a small school where every child is known and valued. The Takari staff is committed to providing a supportive, safe and nurturing environment to all our students.

We are seeking applicants who are highly motivated, skilled and proactive in creating an effective, engaging and inclusive learning environment with high expectations and high care for all students. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build positive and effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community.

You will be committed to improving student outcomes, through innovative teaching practices, be skilled at differentiation and have effective classroom management skills. Your ability to create a joyful learning environment will be key to this role. Ideally, you will have experience implementing an innovative and inquiry-based, hands-on Science program. Takari PS has a purpose-built Science classroom, with access to 3D printers. Knowledge in this area would be highly beneficial to the successful applicant.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
  • Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
