The Organisation
The Literacy and Numeracy Programs directorate of the Department for Education works in partnership with Education Directors and Local Education teams to implement:
- Literacy Guarantee
- Brightpath writing assessment tool
- Progressive Achievement Test (PAT)
The Director, Literacy and Numeracy Programs provides strategic direction and oversight for a team of multidisciplinary staff to drive the achievement of significant critical operational initiatives. The Director will:
- Implement the Brightpath writing improvement program
- Administer the state-wide PAT program
- Support the use of PAT, NAPLAN and Brightpath data to inform the planning and differentiated teaching for literacy and numeracy improvement
- Build the capacity of schools and teachers to support students with learning difficulties and learning disabilities
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in education
- An in-depth knowledge of the Australian Curriculum
- Strong knowledge of educational theory and practice, particularly as it relates to improving learning outcomes
- Extensive experience in leading and directing programs at a strategic level in a large organisation
- Experience managing a high performing teams and the delivery of best practice services and contemporary advice
- Research and analysis experience, including leveraging and delivering efficiencies, influencing stakeholders and leading major change
- Demonstrated innovative leadership and collaborative working, managing significant human, financial and physical resources
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop and nurture strategic partnerships, influence complex concepts and functions to achieve strategic outcomes
This is a temporary South Australian Executive Services (SAES) contract up to January 2024.
Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. A current DHS child-related employment screening will be recognised as a WWCC until it expires.
The incumbent will be required to undertake Responding to Abuse & Neglect (RAN) full day/online training course.
