The Organisation

The Curriculum Support directorate of the Department for Education works in partnership with Education Directors and Local Education teams to provide tailored support for schools and preschool improvement.

The Role

The Assistant Director, Curriculum Support leads a state-wide, strategic and systematic approach to measurable improvement for learning outcomes. The role works in close partnerships to support school and preschool improvement in Literacy and Numeracy guides, Australian Curriculum and SACE and Early Years Learning Framework. The Assistant Director leads an expert team with a collaborative focus to be responsive and provide a differentiated approach to service delivery.

To succeed in the role you will have:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in education
  • Successful experience as an educational leader
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Australian Curriculum
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and model a service orientated approach with a collaborative manner, to achieve agreed goals within a multi-disciplinary education environment
  • Demonstrated high level experience in planning, developing and delivering critical learning improvement programs and initiatives using practical approaches and strategies in design and delivery
  • Flexibility, resilience and political nous
  • Demonstrated experience in providing expert educational and operational advice, plans and policy which guide and facilitate educational outcomes within a complex environment
  • Excellent written communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills that achieve sensitive and appropriate presentation of information, to gain the cooperation of a diverse range of stakeholders

This is a temporary South Australian Executive Services (SAES) contract up to January 2024.

Special Conditions

The successful applicant is required to gain a prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. A current DHS child-related employment screening will be recognised as a WWCC until it expires.

The incumbent will be required to undertake Responding to Abuse & Neglect (RAN) full day/online training course.
