Our client: Bidgerdii Community Health Service

About the Role:

Bidgerdii Community Health Service is currently seeking an Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Worker . The position is on a full-time permanent basis, 5 days per week.

This position forms part of the Rockhampton Children and Family Centre team, based in North Rockhampton. The ECEC Worker will provide assistance in the delivery of early childhood programs and supported playgroups provided through the Rockhampton Children and Family Centre, and ensure quality care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and parents.

As an ECEC Worker you will be expected to be an active member of a team, providing high quality early childhood education and care to children and parents. This includes:

  • Developing strong relationships with children at the service;
  • Developing strong relationships that support and partner with families and the community;
  • Implementing the policies and associated procedures of the organisations at all times; and;
  • Working with other staff towards continuous improvement in all areas of the service's operations.

Minimum Requirements of the role:

  1. Diploma in Community Services (Children's Services) or a Certificate III with relatable experience of two (2) years in a similar field. *Candidates holding a Certificate III in Children's Services would be expected to undertake further Diploma level studies during employment.
  2. A sound understanding of early childhood theory and curriculum planning for 0-8 years and knowledge of child development and support in the planning, implementation and evaluation of play-based early childhood program delivery.
  3. Ability to work collaboratively with children, families and other professionals in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  4. Ability to support practice aimed at improving access and early childhood outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
  5. Knowledge of, and commitment to, evidence based childhood education and care.
  6. High level knowledge and experience in using computers and office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to learn and use other software packages.
  7. Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues, particularly in the health area which are affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, as well as, a demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Additional Factors Essential:

  1. Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) – essential.
  2. Immunisation requirements – It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis B, hepatitis A and pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment
  3. Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
  4. In line with legislation changes (No Card, No Start policy) all successful candidates must hold a current Blue Card (Working with Children and Young People) prior to commencement
  5. Satisfactory Police Check

The position is based in Rockhampton with travel as required for service delivery and professional development.
