The School of Biomedical Engineering is recruiting for a School Administration Officer who will contribute to the efficient & effective operations of the school, as well as the Centre for Health Technologies. The position will be based at the centrally located UTS Campus in Ultimo and will report directly to the School Manager.
Detailed Description

The delivers rigorous, practical & industry-focused education and research that encourages disruptive technologies and cultivates exceptional engineering & IT professionals.

The Faculty has seven schools and this position sits within the UTS is a recognised leader in biomedical engineering research, becoming the only university in NSW to attract a rating of 5 - or 'well-above world standard' for research in biomedical engineering in late 2015.

The School Administration Officer works closely with the School Manager providing excellent all-round support with a focus on co-ordinating the research administration of the school. In addition this role will work with a small team of professional staff supporting academics and researchers with T&L matters and general admin.

About the role:

  • Support the Head of School and Deputy Head of School Research (DHOSR) to administer the HDR student progression process; provide a secretariat function to all school & research-related committees (taking minutes and crafting the agenda etc)
  • Support researchers with project administration such as milestones; acquittals; project reporting etc;
  • Respond to school and faculty queries and provide advice regarding the research administration processes
  • Collaborate proactively with team members when required, to assist with T&L processes. This may include assisting with administrative processes regarding subject outlines; exams; results & student surveys.
  • Provide administrative support to the Centre for Health Technologies ( )
  • Contribute flexibly to the administrative needs of the school
About you:
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to use tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters
  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgement, proactive problem solving and decision making
  • Demonstrated excellence in client service delivery and a strong commitment to continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to plan workflow and work under pressure to meet competing deadlines
  • Experience in any or all of the following areas in higher education is highly desirable;
  • HDR student lifecycle functions as well as associated scholarship and funding arrangements
  • Research publication collection
  • National competitive grants and or research project administration
Remuneration/Salary

Base Salary: $83,258 to $90,147 pa (HEW 6)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
