Centre Manager - Craigieburn Early Learning Centre

​This exciting leadership position will oversee the daily operations and strategic development of the Children's Programs. It is a fantastic opportunity to be part of developing a modern centre and a high performing team. As a motivated and customer focused leader, the Centre Manager will lead a highly engaged and dedicated team of Children's Programs staff in the exceptional delivery of the National Quality Framework in both a long day care and sessional kinder setting. You will experience specialist support from a diverse and caring team, as you lead community and family engagement, with children's potential at the heart of our service philosophy.

1. People Leadership

  • Create a culture within the function where personal accountability is promoted, by providing clear and regular feedback
  • Inspire and motivate the function to do their best by promoting a culture of continuous learning and development
  • Provide professional leadership and development to staff.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the centre or service.

2. Branch Management

  • Oversee consistent high quality practice of the National Quality Framework, including regulatory compliance, adherence to the seven National Quality Standards and Victorian Early Years Learning Framework
  • Oversee the effective running of Centre operations· Responsible for the overall management and administration of the service.
  • Identify and respond to service improvements opportunities, including daily operations and systems management to plan and meet budgetary requirements
  • Work closely with YMCA staff to deliver Vision 2025 and contribute to the implementation of the Children’s Programs strategic pillars of quality, capacity and value proposition.
  • Supervise the implementation of developmentally appropriate programs for children.
  • Maintain day-to-day accounts and handle all administrative matters.
  • Ensure that the centre or service adheres to all relevant regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure that the centre or service meets or exceeds quality assurance requirements.
  • Formulate and evaluate annual budgets.

3. Inter-Personal Skills

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and well-developed emotional intelligence
  • Maintain and support a strong customer and family focus, and ensure a positive service experience for both children and their parents/guardians.
  • Liaise with families and outside agencies.
  • Perform duties as required and comply with reasonable directions.

4. Team Development

  • Show case strong leadership abilities while supporting the local team of Educators with an emphasis on collaboration, communication, empowerment and engagement
  • Initiate and support a culture of innovative Early Childhood practices, resources and professional development for all team members while implementing the YMCA Children’s Programs philosophy
  • Recruit staff in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Perform duties as required and comply with reasonable directions.

5. Business Development

  • Ability to plan, develop and meet short and long-term goals to strengthen the operations of the Centre and drive strategic planning.
  • Utilise internal and external marketing initiatives to meet Early Learning Centre and community centre occupancy and retention targets.
  • Identity and respond to service improvement opportunities, including daily operations and systems management to plan and meet budgetary requirements
  • Strategically and positively engage with all stakeholders including but not limited to; internal YMCA networks, connecting Primary School, Department of Education and Training and local council networks.
  • Perform duties as required and comply with reasonable directions.

About the Centre

YMCA Craigieburn West Early Learning Centre is a community based long day care centre that strives to provide the highest quality of care to each child enrolled.

The service is co-located with the Before School and After School care program for Aitken Creek Primary School, which is also operated by the YMCA Victoria.

Sustainable practices and respect for our environments are a high priority within our centre, being integrated into each daily program by having a natural environment both indoor and outdoor including various animals.

Qualifications

Mandatory Pre-requisite Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualifications in relevant field
  • First Aid Level 2
  • Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate
  • Anaphylaxis and Asthma Qualifications
  • Victorian Drivers Licence

YMCA, including Boards of Directors, is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Young People framework. YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:

  • A national criminal history check;
  • An international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas;
  • Holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance/ equivalent in accordance with state/ territory laws;
  • ACF Safeguarding Children and Young People Certificate (completion online prior to commencement)
  • Two reference checks.

Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework, which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and committing to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with YMCA.
