JOB DESCRIPTION

At Swinburne we are scaling our Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program to ensure all our students benefit from closer connections between the world of work and the world of study. Our bold aim is to be the most industry engaged University, helping students gain valuable skills, confidence and vital career experience by the time they graduate.

The primary focus of this position is to lead the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) academic programs at Swinburne, under the broad direction of the Director, Employability. Working closely with other areas of the Employability team and the Higher Education schools, the incumbent will lead the development and oversee the effective delivery of academic WIL and supporting career development accredited units of study designed to improve employability and career outcomes for students.
The role leads a team of academic and professional staff who work with both external and internal stakeholders to deliver the University’s academic WIL and careers programs and support the WIL and employability strategies.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
  • An earned doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline or a related field
  • Demonstrated academic leadership in a tertiary environment and ability to lead initiatives in innovative learning and teaching approaches
  • Demonstrated people management experience, including the ability to lead and manage staff in a supportive and collegial manner, and foster innovation and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of academics, senior university staff and external members of the profession in industry.
