JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you passionate about creating inclusive school environments where students with disability can access and participate in education on the same basis as other students? Do you enjoy and are you good at coaching and mentoring to build the capability of other teachers? If so, then the role of Hearing Support Itinerant Teacher, Network Student Engagement Team (NSET) may be for you.

Our ideal candidates will have excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to work with schools to develop an effective school-wide support model that addresses universal, selected and targeted interventions. You will work closely with Classroom Teachers and Learning Support Assistants to design and plan strategies, interventions and make reasonable adjustments to the learning program and/or learning environment for students who are Deaf/hard of hearing to enable them to access learning.

You will be an innovative and high performing teacher who enjoys providing selected and targeted, in class support to Deaf/hard of hearing students. As an excellent team player, you will be able to work collaboratively as part of an inter-professional team to assess, hypothesise and implement evidence-based interventions. Eligibility/Other Requirements:
Prior to commencing in this role a minimum of four years full time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a recognised school teaching qualification; a current full teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) (or eligibility for teacher registration with the ACT TQI) and a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. Master of Disability Studies (Deaf/Hard of Hearing); and/or experience in the field is highly desirable.

Notes: An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
