Children’s centres provide a network of integrated health, family support and education service hubs for families with babies and young children across South Australia. Members of the Occupational therapy program in children’s centres collaborate with young children and their caregivers to support development, wellbeing and learning through safe, caring, connected and resilient relationships. Occupational therapists provide a range of discipline-informed group and individual services for children, families and children’s centre colleagues that promote children’s healthy development and support parenting through both universal and targeted service provision.

The occupational therapist provides evidence-based services drawing upon key frameworks including attachment theory, trauma informed practice, cultural responsiveness, and use a strengths based approach. Occupational therapists are members of interdisciplinary teams working in partnership with families, government and non-government sector colleagues across community, home and learning environments.

Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. A current DHS child-related employment screening will be recognised as a WWCC until it expires. The incumbent will be required to undertake Responding to Abuse & Neglect (RAN) full day/online training course every three years. For all other Special Conditions please refer to the Role Description.

There are multiple locations available: Hackham West Children's Centre until 25 May 2022, Aldinga Children’s Centre until 25 May 2022, Il Nido Children’s Centre until 8 November 2021 and Lake Windemere Children’s Centre until 8 November 2021.
