About the position:
The Hearing for Learning Initiative is a trial of an innovative community-based approach to health service enhancement founded on evidence-based research by Menzies Ear Health Research Program.

The aim of the Initiative is to reduce the prevalence of ear disease and hearing loss among Aboriginal children in the Northern Territory, thereby improving quality of life, enhancing early language development, school readiness, school attendance and performance. The primary objectives are to develop, implement and evaluate a model of enhanced ear health care and hearing support. Community-based Ear Health Facilitators receive Certificate II training and technical skills during a 6-week course on-country and are employed in each of 20 rural and remote Northern Territory.

Under the guidance of the Senior Clinical Training Research Officer, the Project Officer will be responsible for financial management including budgetary preparation, expenditure monitoring, procurement and reconciliation, assisting the project team to ensure effective and efficient operation of the Initiative, and assisting reporting to funders and stakeholders according to contractual obligations. The Project Officer will monitor key milestones for reporting to funding partners and stakeholders, provide secretariat support to the Advisory Board, Research Executive Committee, and clinical training team.

The Project Officer position is based in Darwin.

The successful applicant will have:
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/or extensive experience in administering health research projects or clinical trials, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated program support experience, including experience in a secretariat role, financial management, monitoring, record keeping, and operational processes.
Good organisational and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, prioritise, and manage stress.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, build strong productive relationships within an organisation and collaborative external partnerships with people from diverse cultures and a wide range of stakeholders. Well-developed capacity to consult, collaborate and negotiate effectively, and excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
High degree of computer literacy including with the use of relevant software such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Demonstrated initiative and capacity to work independently without direct supervision under broad direction and as part of a multidisciplinary team
