JOB DESCRIPTION

St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School Mackay (P-6) aims to develop the “whole” child – intellectually, emotionally, physically, socially and spiritually. This is achieved through developing a child-centred atmosphere of genuine care and support and permeates a learning environment that nurtures and values each individual student.

Opened in January 2015, St Brendan’s offers state of the art facilities designed to promote learning and embrace our local environment. Our classrooms have been created to ensure students and teachers have the resources and space they require on their learning journey.

About the role
This is a term time contract position (15 HPW) commencing from 23 February 2021 until 3 December 2021.

Selection Criteria
The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate:

  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and spiritualities.
  • An ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families and school staff to improve educational outcomes through targeted and direct academic support.

About You
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and passionate educator for the position of Indigenous Teacher Assistant to join our team at St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School, Mackay.

The successful applicant will service the educational mission by providing support to all aspects of Indigenous Education. In doing so, advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students together with their families, communities, teachers and school.
