The Vice Chancellor is responsible for articulating a clear strategic direction for the University, providing academic and administrative leadership, maintaining focus on quality, engendering a collegial community amongst staff and students, fostering effective relationships with stakeholders, an ensuring sound financial management and stewardship of resources.

The opportunity
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Research Officer provides high quality research, analysis and administrative support to the Vice Chancellor and President, Professor Carolyn Evans.The primary focus of this role is to undertake research for the Vice Chancellor and Chancellor, which includes preparing reports, briefing papers and presentations. At times this may include assisting with legal academic research. Success in this role requires collaboration with staff across the Chancellery team and key internal stakeholders within the University community.

This is a continuing, full time position based at the Nathan or Gold Coast campus.

About you
To be successful within this role, you will possess a law degree and will have relevant work experience with demonstrated ability to undertake research and prepare papers, reports and analysis.

You will have the ability to exercise high level diagnostic skills with strong time-management skills and meticulous attention to detail. You will manage an array of competing commitments and priorities which will require strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

You will have excellent communication and digital literacy skills and will demonstrate excellence in using a range of software to manage information and prepare documentation.

Your strong interpersonal skills will be critical to building and maintaining relationships and strong networks across the Chancellery team and within the University.

You will have demonstrated capability to use initiative, discretion and judgement while performing duties, with limited supervision and taking responsibility for outcomes.

As a flexible team player, you are adaptable, will have an excellent client-orientation and will enjoy the challenge of working in a dynamic working environment.

Salary range
HEW Level 7: $85,914 - $93,078 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $100,519 - $108,902 per annum.
