The Department of Education is seeking highly skilled, experienced and motivated educational leaders for a range of schools across the Territory

We are looking for exceptional educators to lead our schools in an environment of greater school autonomy and a significant reform agenda. Principals are expected to provide leadership that motivates staff, parents and communities to work together to improve student outcomes.

As a public school principal in the Northern Territory, you will need to be a highly skilled communicator, with excellent leadership, administrative and management skills as well as being the kind of person who can face challenges with optimism and creativity to ensure that resources are being used to their fullest potential. There is also a requirement to adopt a leadership role within the public school system, acting in the interests of the whole system and the wider community.

Nhulunbuy High School, East Arnhem Region

Executive Contract Principal Level 2 (Remuneration Package $192,399)

Nhulunbuy High School has a student population of around 300. The school is located in the picturesque mining township of Nhulunbuy, 700km east of Darwin, and provides education from Year 7 to year 12, with a strong vocational education and training program. Students with high needs are supported through a special needs annexe at the school. Also part of the school is a 40-bed boarding facility for Aboriginal students from remote communities across Arnhem Land. The school has approximately 55 employees, including teachers, administration and support staff.

Milingimbi School, East Arnhem Region

Milingimbi School is on an island situated 440km east of Darwin. Milingimbi School has a predominantly Indigenous student population of approximately 330 from early years to senior years. The school also provides education services to two Homeland Learning Centres. The school’s vision is to create a strong cross cultural environment through teaching and learning
