About the Role

As the Team Leader, Accounts Payable & Purchasing, you will work closely with the Senior Manager, Operational Support to plan for and direct RMIT’s Accounts Payable & Purchasing functions and will act as an initial escalation point, and provide systems approval, specialist advice and guidance over delivery of complex transactions for purchasing and AP activities. In this role, you will also use your in-depth knowledge of similar accounts payable and purchasing functions to resolve complex operational issues and work with a range of cross-functional teams with the ultimate goal of making buying easy and intuitive and removing the day to day burden from users. Furthermore, you will be perceived as a subject matter expert on accounts payable and purchasing operation systems and you will ensure these tools are aligned to the organisational strategy.

About you

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Thorough and substantial knowledge, understanding and practical application of accounting concepts, relevant laws and regulations, policies and procedures and financial management technological solutions, preferably Workday or other ERP
  • Previous experience in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously with changing priorities and ability to lead diverse team and foster culture of collaboration
  • Strong business acumen and a willingness to challenge the status quo and look for better, new approaches of doing things to drive culture, agility, high performance and quality customer experience
  • Ability to seek alternative and innovative solutions to complex issues whilst utilising and operating ERP and other Financial systems.


  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in a financial management role in a large, complex organisation.

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Police and Working with Children.
