An exciting opportunity exists for a dedicated and resourceful educator to lead the Emerald State School community. As the Principal you will deliver the vision of the department and improve the educational outcomes of students in the school. You will achieve this by developing the quality of teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.

About Emerald State School

Emerald is located 266 kilometres west of Rockhampton on the Tropic of Capricorn and is the main town in an area known as the Central Highlands. The Emerald Shire has a broad and varied economic base that maintains its prosperity even when some industries experience downturns.

Emerald's location at the junction of two major inland highways and on the main central western rail connection mean that the transport and tourism industries have infrastructure in the town. As the geographic centre of a large region, there are a significant number of government offices and post compulsory education facilities located here. The town is well serviced by retail, commercial, building, engineering, medical, legal, financial and community facilities.

Your Role

As the Principal you will have responsibility for the following

  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.

  • Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.

  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
  • Manage resources to achieve goals.

A mandatory requirement of this role is:

  • Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. For more information please CLICK HERE.
