The Health Research Institute at the University of Canberra is a multidisciplinary research institute that integrates epidemiological and social research with a strong translational focus. We are currently seeking a Research Officer to join our team.

Reporting to the Director, UC-Health Research Institute the primary purpose of the Research Officer is to support our research team for the “Good Start in Life” program for early childhood development (funded by the Medical Research Future Fund). Using data from the Australian Early Development Census we will target neighbourhood areas in Canberra with a high proportion of developmentally vulnerable children. Place-based approaches to supporting children and families will be delivered in pre-schools, early childhood education centres, local play groups, and public places such as playgrounds.

A key feature of this role is to be responsible for providing research support to the planning, management, and conduct of the initiative including developing project plans, research tools, data collection (qualitative and quantitative), data analysis, conducting workshops or training sessions, and other research tasks as required.

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualifications in a related area. Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis as well as project management experience.

Experience in evaluation and in mixed methods research (research design, implementation, evaluation) and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) card and a satisfactory current police check and an unrestricted driver’s licence is required for local travel.
