Position Descriptor:
Yalata Anangu School is part of a remote Aboriginal Community in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands Partnership and is situated on the Far West Coast. The school has a strong focus on developing numeracy skills, oral literacy, phonological awareness, reading, writing and developing social and emotional awareness.

As the Middle School teacher, the successful applicant will be responsible for Year 8 and 9 students, of mixed ability. The position requires the ability to design and implement highly targeted teaching and learning programs. The ability to differentiate and work across mixed year levels is an advantage. An awareness of trauma informed practices and positivge behavioural strategies is desirable.

Pitjantjatjara is the language of the community, an understanding of EALD practices is desirable to develop students' literacy and numeracy skills in this setting. The successful applicant will be required to work closely and collaboratively with their Anangu Educator to deliver all aspects of the curriculum. Key focus areas include bilingual learning and culturally responsive pedagogy. The ideal applicant should show a willingness to work collaboratively with other educators and families to provide an inclusive education program.

Working in a remote setting can be isolating so it is important to be able to work as both an individual and as a member of a team. Accommodation is provided, however shared accommodation may be necessary. To ensure employer compliance of duty of care responsibilities given the unique environment of the remote Anangu schools, a wellness check will be conducted for any teacher nominated for this position and prior to any offer of employment.
