Job Purpose:


The Policy Officer is a member of the Governance, Policy & Risk team, reporting directly to the Governance, Policy & Risk Manager. The Policy Officer systematically researches and documents content requirements for policies and procedures for Study Group’s operations in Australia and New Zealand. The Policy Officer partners and consults with stakeholders in the business to understand current processes, identify any changes required to maintain regulatory compliance, discuss best practice and capture the agreed approach. The Policy Officer drafts clear, concise and pragmatic policies, procedures and associated documents.

The Policy Officer completes policy drafting activities on time and to a high standard, taking action to ensure drafts are progressed, finalised, approved and implemented.


Key Responsibilities:


General

  • Researching and documenting regulatory, best practice and operational content requirements for policies, procedures and associated documents
  • Partnering with stakeholders to research current processes and identify any changes required to maintain regulatory compliance or achieve best practice
  • Agreeing a pragmatic approach with stakeholders
  • Capturing the agreed approach by drafting clear, concise and pragmatic documents
  • Consulting stakeholders and respectfully managing expectations as to how feedback will be incorporated
  • Following policies, procedures and associated documents through from drafting, to finalisation and approval
  • Assisting with implementation plans, including communications
  • Considering whether the SGANZ policy suite contains any gaps or whether there is scope for streamlining
  • Providing ad hoc support to projects as required;
  • Be a collaborative and effective member of the Governance, Policy and Risk team;
  • Build and maintain strong and positive relationships with appropriate internal and external stakeholders;
  • Identify and report on opportunities for continuous improvement.

Selection Criteria:


Qualifications & Training

  • Bachelor degree (or similar)


Experience Required

  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role
