About the role:

Box Hill Institute is recruiting staff to work for their Corrections Education Project, located at Dhurringile Prison, near Shepparton. This role will involve direct contact with prisoners (students).

We are currently seeking a Casual Teacher in Welding to join our team. You will need to have a Certificate III in Engineering, be a good communicator and have excellent problem solving skills.

This role is different because it is as a Teacher and the incumbent will be employed by Box Hill Institute, however the video will give you some insight into working in a prison - . Box Hill Institute is responding to the potential risk of coronavirus (COVID-19) to ensure the safety of staff and students. Box Hill Institute has a comprehensive COVID safe plan for all Institute staff including those who are working in prisons.

Your Skills and Qualifications:

Qualifications
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110 plus the upgrade units/TAE40116) or a Graduate Certificate qualification in Adult Education; and
  • Relevant industry qualifications (a minimum Certificate III or higher relevant vocational qualification)
Expertise Requirements

1. Adult Learning Principles: Experience in planning and researching for the preparation of programs and learning materials, in the identification of setting standards, and well developed skills in transferring knowledge including the ability to research, select, and use a wide range of learning resources and assessment tools that would ensure a successful training program.

2. Compliance Administration: Demonstrated ability to develop a range of complex documents that comply with all relevant quality standards, including course materials, unit plans and assessment tools. Demonstrated proficiency and capability with student management systems for attendance tracking, retrieval of student details where required, and resulting.

3. Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability or the capacity to work and provide support and advice to students and BHI employees of diverse cultures, backgrounds and abilities, including effective communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills relevant to a learning environment. Ability to quickly develop rapport and positive working relations with colleagues from a range of social and cultural backgrounds.

You will need to provide or be willing to obtain a current National Police Records Check, a Working with Children Check, evidence of your entitlement to work in Australia, and certified copies of your qualifications.
