About the team

Development and Alumni Relations [DAR] oversees the University’s alumni, philanthropic and community relations strategy. The function works collaboratively across the University to embed philanthropic and engagement activity into the University’s operations. The core responsibility of the team is to lead and build on the University’s alumni and community relations, and to secure philanthropic support for the University.

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer you will have a significant leadership role in in the strategic direction, operations and delivery of University-wide alumni engagement and community partnership programs. The role is responsible for building external relationships with its alumni, maximizing the University’s community partnership program, and executing the alumni and community relations engagement strategy that will enhance the University's relationship with its alumni and the broader community.

This opportunity has the potential to equip a leader with the relevant skills necessary to lead an Advancement portfolio within a higher education context or senior executive in a large not-for-profit.

This role has five key areas of focus:

  • Leadership and strategic direction;
  • Alumni Engagement
  • Community Giving
  • Community Relations
  • Staff development and resource planning.

About you

With relevant tertiary qualifications (or demonstrated equivalent competency), you will possess substantial experience in community engagement and alumni relations as well as having an extensive track record of management and leadership experience with the proven ability to provide high-level, leadership, project management, motivation and direction to teams of staff

In particular, you will have a strong experience with building, and developing a successful alumni engagement program, or similar multi-faceted stakeholder relations program.

You will need to demonstrate experience of leading community building initiatives that raise awareness and participation within of UWA in our community.

Utilising your substantial management and leadership experience at an appropriate level, you will be highly skilled in influencing, negotiating and communicating at a senior level across large, complex organisations.

Making effective use of your significant experience in the higher education sector, you will be comfortable in determining long-term planning and key strategic direction.
