This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and accordingly any appointment (and extension to this appointment) will not extend beyond 12 months.

About Glenala State High School
Glenala State High School is a vibrant learning setting located in Durack, in Birsbane's south-west. Students from Durack, Inala, Richlands, Darra, Pallara and Doolandella make up the population of 940 students, many of whom were born overseas.
Glenala excels in many avenues such as academic and vocational pathways. Three times in the last five years Glenala has produced an OP One student. For the last three years Glenala has also produced many voctaional pathways due to the recenlty built Trade Skills Centre.
A four million dollar STEM Centre of Excellence was also opened at the end of 2019. Glenala draws its strength from a highly experienced staff base who are well equiped to teach students from over 40 different nationalites
Your Role
As the Head of Department you will have responsibility for the following:
- Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
- Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.
A mandatory requirement of this role is:
- Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. For more information please CLICK HERE.
