About Laidley District State School

Laidley District State School is situated between Ipswich and Toowoomba approximately 10 minutes off the Warrego Highway in South-East Queensland. Laidley District State School is a co-educational school with an enrolment of 400 students in years Prep to 6.

The school population constitutes 20% of whom identify as Indigenous or Toress Strait Islander, 6% in Out of Home Care, 10% SWD and less than 1% speak a language other than English. This school strongly supports a positive school culture among students and the school community as a whole. School staff are driven to deliver the best for our students and its community.

Reading has been a priority at this school for the past 4 years and as a result has seen tremendous positive outcomes in diagnostic testing in this area. A secondary focus has been engaging with our community and partners. This has led to a positive community view of the school and strong partnerships.

Your Role

As the Head of Special Education Services you will have responsibility for the following:

Lead the school special education unit or special education developmental unit teachers, students and stakeholders to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
Set high standards for student and staff performance.
Are active participants in life long learning and ongoing professional development.
Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
Are futures oriented and strategic.
Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students with disability.
Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the unit to achieve goals.

A mandatory requirement of this role is:
Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. For more information please CLICK HERE.
