JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Open to Australian Aboriginal peoples and UniSA employees only
  • Full-time fixed term contract until 17 September 2021 based in the Centre for Cancer Biology located on North Terrace
  • Salary range: $70,618 - $95,253 per annum (plus superannuation)


About the Role

Reporting directly to the Head: Molecular Signalling Laboratory, the Research Assistant will contribute to grant-funded research in order to achieve defined objectives and test stated hypotheses. This project involves the examination of new agents to target fibrosis and inflammation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Participate in the production of data
  • Offer new ideas on research directions
  • Design experiments, including appropriate controls
  • Draft reports, abstracts, scientific papers and other instruments
  • Comply with human ethics, animal ethics and privacy

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Experience in lipid biology and analysis by high performance liquid chromatography
  • Experience with the culture and manipulation of human cell lines
  • Competency in recording, analysing, presenting and disseminating research to stakeholders including preparation of papers
  • Demonstrated experience in relevant areas of research and knowledge of literature involved in and laboratory procedures relevant to, fibrosis, lipid metabolism and cellular signalling pathways
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Knowledge of animal ethics guidelines, biosafety requirements and procedures and/or experience in the safe handling of potentially biological hazards
