Craigie Heights Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Deputy Principal to join our Executive Leadership Team. The successful applicant will be experienced, dedicated and innovative.

In collaboration with the Principal and other members of the Executive Leadership Team, the Deputy Principal provides instructional leadership in curriculum and student engagement across the school. You will have high level interpersonal and public relations skills that support the development of strong relationships with the community and promote our school vision.

As our Deputy, you will be driven by our School Business Plan and its priorities. You will be required to collaboratively develop a new Business Plan for the next planning cycle. The successful applicant will have experience in leading the Mathematics Curriculum area, ensuring the implementation of evidence-based, whole-school approaches and robustly use data to define future planning. As a Positive Behaviour Support Coach, you will help to embed PBS processes and procedures and support our Tier 1 and Tier 2 Teams, as well as individuals. You will provide professional learning, mentoring and coaching to build the capacity of teachers in these areas. The Deputy in this position is responsible for liaising with support technicians and the department to manage Information and Communications Technology (ICT) across the school.

To ensure our students achieve their personal best, the Deputy will provide leadership in the social and emotional wellbeing of both staff and students; you are culturally responsive, have a restorative approach to managing student behaviour and have an understanding of students at educational risk. 

Craigie Heights PS is an Independent Public School, located in the northern suburbs. There are 419 students enrolled from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our specialist programs include: Music, Visual Arts, Science, Physical Education and Indonesian. There is a strong focus on strong academic progress for each student and an emphasis on effective pastoral care for staff and students. Professional growth for teachers is based on classroom observation and guided self-reflection supported by targeted professional learning. There is a strong element of philanthropy woven into the fabric of the school culture.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

Employees will be required to:

  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and

Employees will be required to:

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
