Institute for Molecular Bioscience

It has capitalised on one of the greatest periods of discovery in history - the genetic and molecular basis of life and its diversity.

About This Opportunity

As the Science Education & Community Liaison Officer, you will be charged with inspiring the broad community’s interest and understanding of the value of research being pursued at UQ’s Institute for Molecular Bioscience, Australia’s leading life science research institute. Your role will be integral to delivering the Institute’s citizen science and broad community engagement priorities through project management of events, promotions and communications (including digital) associated with external science engagement activities. You will also act as the primary point of contact for the Soils for Science and Science Ambassador programs.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre.

Our Ideal Candidate

With prior demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of engagement programs and a capacity to deliver quantifiable results, you should ideally possess a degree with at least four (4) years subsequent relevant experience in public engagement or other relevant disciplines. Essential to the role will be your outstanding verbal communication and presentation capabilities, in addition to your strong interpersonal skills and a tenacious ability to handle situations that require initiative, strong time management and independent judgement.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position up to 3 years at Professional Level 07.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,763.14 - $96,783.71, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $103,852.88 - $113,236.94.
