Primary purpose of this role

The Senior Executive Officer is responsible for supporting the overall business management and continued improvement of the Charles Sturt University Study Centres, with a focus on business planning/reporting, business intelligence & strategic analysis and operational support. This is a “hands on” senior individual contributor role and trusted advisor to the Head Charles Sturt University Study Centres.


Key accountabilities

Operational Efficiency

  • Support & enable the Head Charles Sturt University Study Centres and through that support the overall Study Centre team
  • Support & enable the development of regular operations/portfolio reviews of Charles Sturt University Study Centres ensuring delivery against partner and corporate strategy outcomes
  • Ensure robust and integrated annual business planning for Charles Sturt University Study Centres through:
  • The development of commercially appropriate business plans for Charles Sturt University Study Centres that achieve target outcomes
  • Support of the annual cascade and implementation of outcomes based goals for Charles Sturt University Study Centre teams
  • Working closely with The Chief of Staff, Finance, HR etc. regarding regular and ad hoc reporting, Global Executive Team (GET) meeting outcomes and budgets/annual planning
  • Enabling/ coordinating the Charles Sturt University Study Centres leadership meetings, calls, calendar etc.
  • Undertake financial/business analysis to identify risks and opportunities to reduce cost, increase revenue/efficiency and improve business performance/student & staff satisfaction for the Charles Sturt University Study Centres network
  • Undertake strategic research and analysis and plan and implement recommendations and strategic initiatives to ensure the ongoing success of the study centre product mix and business approach
  • Develop and manage processes and procedures to proactively manage, monitor and assure the compliance and performance of the Charles Sturt University Study Centres
  • Ensure and coordinate high quality reporting to partnership governance forums, Global executive Team and local and global boards and governance forums
  • Ensure strong compliance management and risk identification and management across the Charles Sturt University Study Centres
  • Ensure all partnerships have Partner Development Plans aligned to internal business plans
  • Manage vendor relationships as required across the Charles Sturt University Study Centres
  • Act as trusted advisor to the Head Charles Sturt University Study Centres
  • Assist Head Charles Sturt University Study Centres with special projects, additional duties and activities as required.


Relationship management

  • Develop and maintain a high level of trust and rapport with Charles Sturt University staff
  • Work in unity with the Academic team and Operations to ensure a coherent and optimal student experience.
  • Develop a positive and proactive working relationship with all stakeholders, across the Study Centres and Study Group generally to ensure that study centre requirements are resourced and met.


People leadership & Change management

  • Be accountable for developing direct reports (NB: currently this role has no direct reports), ensuring staff have opportunity to develop skills; manage staff performance and reviews against Study Group HR Policies.
  • Contribute as a collaborative, constructive and proactive member of the Charles Sturt Study Centre Leadership team.
  • Work actively with the HCSUSC and HRD to build a successor for the NBD role and assist with succession planning and talent management across the Charles Sturt Study Centre team.
  • Travel will be required to all Study Centres to perform the functions of the role, and to regional NSW to attend regional Charles Sturt forums, as required.


Compliance

  • Charles Sturt University Study Centres fall under the Charles Sturt University Compliance policies.
  • The holder of this position is required to adhere to all applicable Charles Sturt University policies relating to the delivery of Charles Sturt programs and management of Charles Sturt University students at the Study Centres.
  • The holder of this position is required to have a detailed and working knowledge of the applicable higher education regulations and legislation (e.g. National Code 2018, ESOS Act, TEQSA Threshold Standards, etc.) relating to their business unit.
