St Martin de Porres Primary School is a small but growing multicultural school in the Western Suburbs. We are seeking applications for a part time Physical Education Teacher.
We are looking for a highly skilled practitioner with a sound knowledge of the Health and PE Curriculum who will engage and excite our students.
This position is a 0.4 - 2 days a week role on a Wednesday and Thursday. The successful applicant will be working closely with another part time PE teacher to plan, coordinate and implement the Health and PE curriculum.
The successful applicant must:
- be faith filled with a strong commitment to the Catholic ethos of the school and to the spiritual, emotional, social and educational wellbeing of all students
- show exemplary learning and teaching skills with the capacity to engage students in a rich learning environment and a desire to share this knowledge in a professional, collaborative and collegial way
- have an understanding of and interest in Visible Learning
- have strong interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to continue to build effective relationships with students, staff and parents
- have exemplary behaviour management practices
- enjoy working with a diverse group of students from a range of backgrounds and have a repertoire of strategies to engage them in highly effective learning activities
- have a thorough knowledge of assessment strategies, be adept at analysing these and use this data effectively
- have a rigorous understanding of contemporary learning and the Health and PE Curriculum
- be organised and have the ability to share the coordination of whole school events such as school sports as well as our inter-school sport program
Special Requirements
The successful applicant needs to:
- be eager to embrace the Catholic ethos of our school
- be an experienced classroom teacher
- be accredited to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school or working towards accreditation.
- be committed to child safety, to maintaining best practices to ensure this and to ongoing evaluation of these practices
- have read and be committed to maintaining the standards as set out in our Child Safe Code of Conduct
- have read, and be aware of, the attached statement on the 'Principles Regarding Catholic Education' and our Privacy statement
- hold a valid VIT registration.
