The Faculty of Engineering and IT (FEIT) is recruiting for a Business and Governance Coordinator to join the team on a full-time, fixed term basis of 9 months. The Business and Governance Coordinator provides governance support across the Faculty and fosters strong collaborative links across the Faculty and University to support effective and efficient implementation of the Faculty Strategic Plan. The Business and Governance coordinator also plays an important role in developing and disseminating strategic communications across the faculty on behalf of the executive.

The culture of the Faculty is one that balances compliance with policy and procedure with a positive outlook of excellence, connectivity and responsiveness. The Business and Governance Coordinator is an integral part of the Dean’s unit.

The role is required to build and maintain strong relationships across the Faculty and the university and exercise initiative and sound judgement in the development of new strategic proposals on behalf of the Faculty senior executive team. The ability to flexibly contribute to team-based tasks as well as performing tasks on an independent basis is paramount to the role.

About the role:
  • Providing Executive support to the Dean and Faculty Business Manager on internally focussed strategic and ‘business as usual’ initiatives and projects. Responsibilities include preparing documents such as business cases and reports, liaising with a variety of stakeholders and undertaking research
  • Drafting and creating high level presentations and communications, including email correspondence and memorandums, position or discussion papers, responses and presentations, on behalf of the Dean, the Faculty Executive and/or the Faculty Business Manager
  • Providing administrative support for strategic recruitment
  • Providing expert advice to the faculty on all governance and policy matters, including dissemination and implementation of policy changes, development of new policies and working with senior faculty staff to monitor application of changes

With examples, please outline in a separate document how you meet the following eight (8) key selection criteria points below:

1. Exceptional written and visual communication skills, including report writing, professional presentation design, and experience in preparing complex correspondence
2. Highly developed oral communication skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly and confidently communicate with all levels of staff in the university
3. Highly developed planning and organisational skills with the proven ability to set and understand priorities and to work effectively under pressure
4. Ability to source, distil and collate information from multiple sources to create engaging, relevant and informative presentations, reports, speeches and other materials for communication.
5. Strong analytical and conceptual skills, demonstrated initiative, judgement and proactive problem solving and decision making skills
6. Ability to work well in a small team and independently with minimal supervision
7. Appropriate tertiary qualifications or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through training and/or experience
8. Extensive experience in and a well-developed understanding of tertiary institutions would be highly regarded


Base Salary: $103,357 to $117,712 pa (HEW 8)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
