JOB DESCRIPTION

Casual

Band 5 Hourly rate from $42.86 to $48.93 per hour (inclusive of 25% casual loading) plus 9.5% superannuation

Eureka Centre is seeking Sessional Educators to work with the Eureka Education team to deliver programs inspired by exhibitions, collection objects and the historic site of the Eureka Stockade Memorial Park.

As a Sessional Educator, you will work in a team environment to ensure visitors are engaged by high quality, rewarding and relevant learning experiences. You will use innovative teaching strategies to deliver education programs aligned with current curriculum frameworks and the learning needs of diverse visitors. You will teach student groups across a range of subjects, year levels and abilities (early childhood, primary, secondary, special needs groups, EAL), as well as casual visitors and adults in a variety of learning contexts.

To be successful you will have excellent teaching skills, the ability to implement innovative teaching strategies, coupled with the successful attainment of a teaching qualification and current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. Alternatively, you will have proven skills and experience in delivering dynamic museum programs to wide audiences and hold a current Working with Children Card.

Key Selection Criteria

Successful attainment of an appropriate teaching qualification or evidence of the appropriate level of experience working within education in a classroom, museum or similar context.

High-level communication skills: can quickly establish a natural rapport with a range of people.

Accountability and flexibility: ability to take initiative, work creatively and effectively multitask.

Cultural awareness: understands the beliefs, customs, needs and expectations of the general community, a specific community, or client group. Demonstrates an understanding of the value of diversity.

Relationship building and teamwork: establishes and maintains relationships with people at all levels. Collaborates with others in the pursuit of team goals.

Well versed in high technology teaching aids, interactive screens, smartphone apps, video etc
