This is an exciting opportunity to advance your career in Early Childhood Education and Care to Diploma level. Within the role you will acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to complete the Traineeship, providing a great opportunity to establish your career in Child Care. You will assist in the provision of effective child care that encourages early childhood learning and development through learning, adopting and implementing sound early childhood practices and procedures and on the job training and development.

Successful candidates will need to be available for rostered shifts between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Motivated, committed individuals have the opportunity to gain theoretical and practical experience whilst working at a Child Care Centre. Wide ranges of stimulating in-services are offered and trainees are provided with the opportunity to network with staff from other Council Centres.

The Traineeship program requires the successful applicants to enter a Training Contract for up to 18 months duration. As part of their individual Training Plans Trainees are required to undertake and complete a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care within the period of the traineeship.

The successful trainee’s primary responsibility for the position is to obtain the knowledge, skills and competence through tertiary qualifications and on-the-job training.

Please Note – Employment beyond the term of the Traineeship is neither automatically offered nor guaranteed.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Assist in the delivery of quality education and care functions in accordance with National Quality Framework requirements and CCC’s policies and procedures;
  • To obtain knowledge, skills and competence through tertiary qualifications and on the job training;
  • Be willing to develop and implement new skills and seek opportunities to gain feedback on behaviour and work whilst remaining open to the input of others.

Essential Criteria:

  • Certificate III qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care;
  • Current Working with Children Check;
  • Demonstrated ability to participate and actively contribute in a team environment;
  • Strong customer service ethos and a demonstrated customer-centric approach to service provision;
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to study independently and prioritise tasks to complete assignments within required timeframes;
  • Willingness and ability to work a variety of shifts between a spread of hours from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Applicants may be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B, Tetanus (Boostrix), MMR and Varicella or demonstrate their immunity.

CMV screening will be required.

This role provides a salary range of between $557.41 to $766.88 per week (dependent upon age and school qualifications) + superannuation.
