The Quality Teaching Practice Unit in conjunction with the Strategic Delivery Unit are recruiting a Curriculum Advisor English to join a dynamic and multidisciplinary team that uses evidence-informed practices to support teachers to improve student learning with a particular focus on improving HSC results.
We are looking for teachers with a passion for developing deep learning opportunities for students and high-level expertise in delivery of stage 6 courses in English to join our team.
These positions work across Strategic Delivery Unit (0.5FTE) and Quality Teaching Practice Unit (0.5 FTE) and form part of HSC Strategy Community of Practice, which includes outstanding HSC teachers that drive the pursuit of excellence in improving student learning.
The role of the Curriculum Advisor is to professional support to teachers in NSW schools and managing projects whilst participating in evaluation and deepening the evidence base to support the implementation of high school programs with a particular focus on improving HSC results.
The HSC strategy aims to improve student achievement in the Higher School Certificate, regardless of a student's postcode or socio-economic status and supports the building of teacher capacity, an important driver of student achievement, through high quality professional learning, resources and support materials.

- Teaching qualifications and recent school based experience within the K-12 range
- Demonstrated commitment to participating in and managing accreditation processes
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
- Proven ability to liaise and negotiate with a range of stakeholders and work collaboratively within and across teams
- Experience in leading curriculum implementation and demonstrated understanding of current trends, resources, quality teaching & assessment practice, relevant legislation and policies
- Demonstrated ability to build the capacity of staff through the development and delivery of innovative programs and services
- Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and implement strategic initiatives and innovative practices that support education change for improved student learning outcome
- Demonstrated teaching experience and qualifications in targeted HSC courses within the subject.
