About you
Energetic and motivated, you are an experienced training officer, accustomed to assisting in the delivery of practical training services. You understand the importance in training meeting the requirements of the government based contracts and relevant external assessing bodies, to equip staff with the required skills and knowledge to competently undertake their role. You will preferably have a background in a security, military, policing, corrections or immigration detention network environment and have the passion to train and mentor employees to succeed in their role. You’re a respectful and professional person who demonstrates exceptional moral values in everything you do.

About the role
Reporting to the L&D Regional Manager, this position will ensure Serco’s training and assessment is delivered in accordance with Registered Training Organisation (RTO) requirements, contributing to the development of courseware, and ensuring the business meets the needs of compliance audits conducted onsite. The Training Officer will make sure all officers meet the training requirements for their role, participate in the monitoring of staff development, providing up to date advice and guidance on issues relating to staff development; and assess OHS/WHS ensuring all training is completed in a safe environment.

To be successful in this role you will have:
The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 OR TAE40110 with proof of the following units of competency:
TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills or its successor OR TAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills
TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools or its successor OR TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools OR TAEASS502B Design and develop assessment tools
Certificate III in Correctional Practices (current)
Certificate in Security and/ or Risk Management (desirable but not essential)
A strong understanding of the Australian Quality Training Framework, with a proven history delivering training to a large workforce.
Experience delivering physical and practical training including first aid and emergency procedures.
Experience working and delivering training within a detention environment or secure facility would be highly regarded,
Flexibility, working hours for this role will depend on Centre needs, so some weekend availability will be required
Maintain a current Working with Children certificate in accordance with the relevant state or territory child protection legislation (as required)
Advanced First Aid Certificate (desirable)

Some inter/intrastate travel may be required.

This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes a national police check as an essential selection component for this role.
