About the role

Professional opportunities are available for an experienced Cook/Chef to commence with Wonderschool Early Learning Centre (Conder) Pty Ltd. We are looking for a Cook/Chef who is creative, aware of food safety standards and meeting individual allergy and meal preference needs.
You will be responsible for:

  • Comply with all relevant legislation, early childhood regulations and all policies, procedures and work guidelines issued by Wonderschool.
  • Be part of a team of diverse educators and raising the bar on the quality of practice.
  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals that are culturally appropriate for children 0-6 years.
  • Building positive and respectful relationships with all families and their children at Wonderschool.
  • Operate mixers, ovens, choppers, shredders, steamers, grills, grinders, steam kettles, fry kettles, and other food equipment.
  • Creating an environment free from bias and one that meets individual children's needs.
  • Promoting and culture rich in knowledge, acceptance, and professionalism.
  • Provide for/or supplement alternative foods/beverages for children with allergies or special food/dietary requirements.
  • Upholding children's rights and responsibilities.
  • Purchasing stock and keeping is stored safely and with labels.

Skills and experience

  • Food Safety Certificate
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Card
  • Understanding of Child Protection and your role and responsibilities in relation to this legislation.
  • Preferred Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Food Safety Standards
  • High level of communication and written skills
  • Preferred First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain)
