This is a permanent part-time (0.4FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2021

Are you a passionate, innovative primary educator who is keen to work as part of team committed and dedicated to educating young minds to achieve their full potential?

Dongara District High School (DHS) is a proud Independent Public School in the Mid-West Education Region, and are looking for a primary teacher to join their friendly teaching team.

Ideally, the successful applicant should be highly motivated, skilled and proactive in creating an effective, engaging and inclusive learning environment with high expectations and high care for all students. They should also be collaborative professionals, have excellent interpersonal skills, practise current pedagogy and demonstrate familiarity and expertise in all aspects of primary education.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally, have the ability to improve student outcomes, and possess a strong literacy and numeracy focus, be skilled at differentiation and have effective classroom management skills to support our Kindergarten to Year 12 approach to Positive Behaviour Support. The successful applicant will work in a collaborative environment, implementing whole school practices, including evidence-based strategies, such as Seven Steps for Successful Writing and have experience using the Brightpath formative assessment tool and maybe required to teach across Kindergarten to Year 12.

There is a high level of parent involvement in the school. Regular Parent and Carer meetings are made up of a core of enthusiastic and committed parents. A pro-active unincorporated School Board plays a vital role in the formulation of the school’s vision, goals, and policies as well as monitoring the operation and outcomes of the School Business Plan.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
  • be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
